Monadnock Fall Festival

Supporting and Growing the Community

Part of the founding philosophy of Keene Music Festival is that we would, as much as possible, not compete for funds with organizations that served more fundamental needs.  While music feeds the soul, you need to feed the bodies first. We were recently invited to participate in a local government committee looking at community events and how to structure an event to celebrate all that is special about the Monadnock area.  The idea being to put together an event that showcases the art, music, theater, dance, agriculture, social culture, businesses and organizations that make this area so special.  It is also be an opportunity for local nonprofits to talk about what they do and to raise funds for their work.
The Monadnock Fall Festival is being organized by folks from Keene Music Festival, City government, Keene State College, Keene Chamber of Commerce, and Arts Alive.  It’s been scheduled for Saturday, October 1st, and has the makings of an awesome community celebration.  This event will be based on the same structure as the Music Festival, but will be open to lots of the other things that make our area shine. Keene State College is working with us provide venues and activities along with local businesses and organizations.
More than music, Keene Music Festival has been about creating community.  We feel that partnering with Monadnock Fall Festival let us do this even more than we’ve done in the past.

The day is going to start with the Fun of One Road Race sponsored by Ted Shoe & Sport. Runners can register online or Friday from 3:00pm-7:00pm at the store. The Farmers Market will be from 9am-2pm, an Auto Show from 10am-2pm, and music from 10am-7pm.
