October 24, 2014

Several shows this weekend are donating proceeds to non-profit organizations. The causes are varied and we all benefit from the opportunity to catch some live music.

Josué Verde

Fritz the Place to Eat

Josué  Verde is David Ross and Josh Green, whose original songs encompass blues, jazz and folk. Tonight they are joined by  Michael Harrist for their show at Fritz.   This show will be a fundraiser for the National Brain Tumor Society.  10% of the sales will go to the benefit.  In addition there will be a 50-50 raffle from 5:00 – 9:00. The fun starts at 6:30.

 Arrowhead Recreation Area

Arrowhead Benefit

Arrowhead Recreation Club is a a non-profit all volunteer organization that runs the Arrowhead Recreation Area in Claremont.  It’s mission is to offer affordable skiing, snowboarding and tubing fun at prices well below typical ski resorts.  On Saturday Arrowhead is holding a benefit at the Claremont Opera House for the purchase of a new groomer.  Smoke & Mirrors, a popular cover band, will perform new and classic rock, country, swing and pop tunes.  In addition there will be a raffle and discounts at four area restaurants the evening of the show.

Sumner Knight Concerts

Dave Dersham

The Sumner Knight Series is an ongoing concerts series featuring unplugged music.  Proceeds go to the renovation of the chapel, located in the Woodlawn Cemetery.  Saturday’s show features singer-songwriter Dave Dersham.  Here is a link to his performance of Flying Cars.
