On Saturday, December 6, the Chamber Singers of Keene will present its holiday concert ’A Spotless Rose’ – Music for Advent at the United Church of Christ, 23 Central Square in Keene. The program features Christmas music from the 1500’s to the present century by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Michael Praetorius, William Billings, Felix Mendelssohn, Sergie Rachmaninoff, Herbert Howells and Morten Lauridsen. Tickets for the concert, which begins at 7:00, are $15 at the door, $12 in advance (available through choir members).
The Chamber Singers of Keene is a choral ensemble of 21 auditioned vocal members who perform sacred and secular choral music from the Renaissance through modern times. Formed in 1994, the ensemble has toured throughout the Monadnock region as well as Einbeck, Germany - Keene’s Partner City. The Chamber Singers have performed original works by local composers in addition to traditional pieces by the masters througout its twenty year’s of concerts. Matthew Leese is the music director for the choir.
