The Monadnotes Calendar has more than 4o live musical events listed this weekend. Here is a sampler of the many choices from just about all musical genres:
Some Rock/ Pop Music for Thursday
Three for the Taking is an Antrim quartet who performs rock covers and originals. They are the featured performer tonight at the Antrim Teen Center for the Heard It Through the Grapevine open mic. Five dollar suggested donation; the music starts at 7:00.
Contra Dance Music on Friday
Allison and Hunt along with the Live Free and Pie Contra Orchestra play for the Family Dance at Heberton Hall. Sponsored by the Keene Public Library, this is a free family event for all ages and abilities; expect a lively performance with infectious joy. The dance goes from 6:30 – 8:30.
Hear Jazz on Saturday
Keene Jazz Orchestra plays for their annual Big Band Dance at the Marriott in Keene Saturday night. Rebecca Holtz is the featured vocalist. Tickets are $15 / $12, the show goes from 8:00 – 11:00.
Finish the Weekend with Classical Music on Sunday
The Keene Chamber Orchestra’s second concert of the 2014-2015 season has two performances this weekend, Saturday and Sunday at the Monadnock Covenant Church. Tickets are $18, $6 for students. The program features the premiere of Eric Thomas’ String Quartet (2014) and well as Elgar’s Cello Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2. Today’s performance is at 4:00.
