Hooker-Dunham Theater and Gallery

Hooker Dunham GalleryThe Hooker-Dunham Theater and Gallery is an art gallery, performance auditorium, and meeting space located in downtown Brattleboro. Run by a volunteer staff, the 3000 foot space hosts musicians and performance artists, visual artists, actors and filmmakers. Its mission to provide an auditorium and / or space on a share-of-the-cost basis. Rentals cover the cost of operating expenses, and volunteers pitch in to staff the box office, make repairs, help with sets and costumes, or lend expertise when needed. The theater has 99 seats and a portable stage extension. Typically beverages and baked goods are sold before the show and during intermission. The location, a former shoe factory, is at the end of an ally towards the Connecticut River and down a flight of metal stairs. It hosts a diverse selection of music, theater, spoken word and art, often simultaneously. Ranging from world and popular, to avant-garde or folk, Hooker Dunham hosts musicians who bring a fresh interpretation to music genres. Recently, management changed hands from Twilight Music with Barry Stockwell at the helm, to writer, actor and director Jon Mack.
