Hot Mustard will be playing in the Acoustic Café concert series at the Wadleigh Memorial Library in Milford on Saturday, February 21.
Hot Mustard is a bluegrass quartet from Rindge, NH and Putney, VT comprised of two couples and two banjos, along with guitar, fiddle, and bass. The group started with Bill Jubett and Bruce Stockwell who, with the help of a New Hampshire Arts Grant, composed pieces for double banjo. When they decided they wanted to tour, their spouses and musical partners April Jubett, who plays guitar and sings, and Kelly Stockwell on bass joined them.
The name Hot Mustard comes from Bruce Stockwell, who in addition to his playing, also teaches banjo. He will tell musicians to “put the mustard to it”; or add some spice to the tune.
The Acoustic Café is held on the third Saturday of the month from October through April. Admission is free; refreshments and coffee are for sale with proceeds going to the library. Upcoming performers at the Café are Traditional Brew in March and Off the Cuff in April. For more information about the Acoustic Café, visit the website.
