Monadnock Chorus presents two performances of Tidings of Joy! in Peterborough. The program is eight selections from the seventeenth through early nineteenth century by Western European composers Haydn, Monteverdi, H. Praetorius, M. Praetorius, Stanford, Vaughn Williams, and Mendelssohn . The concerts, scheduled on December 13 at 3:00 and December 14 at 7:30 , are held at the Peterborough Town House.
Both concerts feature special guests. The Boston City Singers will perform for the Saturday concert. This choral nonprofit organization, directed by Jane Money, serves inner-city youth ages 4-18 with vocal instruction and concert experiences. On Sunday you can hear the Monadnock Chorus Chamber Singers, a 16-member choral ensemble under the direction of Keene State College professor and Director of Vocal Activities Dr. Daniel Carberg.
Monadnock Chorus was formed in 1959 and performs throughout the Monadnock region. There are two concert seasons and new members are always welcome. The Spring 2015 season starts in January 14. The current season is under the direction of Keene State College professor Matthew Leese.
Tickets for both performances are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Advance tickets of $18 are available at Steeles and Toadstool Bookshops in Peterborough. For more information about the concert, Monadnock Chorus, or how to become a member, visit monadnock-chorus org.
