Roots of Creation is a popular reggae band out of Peterborough whose music and dazzling concert shows have resulted in a strong following and high critical acclaim. Begun in 2001 by four college friends, the band has been touring for the past ten years throughout New England and the United States. Their sound combines reggae and rock with plenty of improvisation and their concerts include a dazzling light show that wows their fans with a multisensory experience. The core of the band is three musicians on vocals, guitar, drums, sampler and keyboard. While on tour they add musicians to the band on bass, brass and vocals. Roots of Creation (RoC) won the New England Music Award in 2012 for Best In State: New Hampshire and Best Jam Band 2012 by Cider Magazine. They have released five CD's and have opened for or shared the same stage as The Wailers, Mickey Hart Band, Lupe Fiasco, Ziggy Marley, and Toots and the Maytalls. Their crowdpleasing performances can be seen at music festivals, on college campuses and in venues large and small. Their sense of optimism and social justice is not only evident in their lyrics, but in the causes they support - ranging from food pantries and Fair Trade Fairs to the Boston Anti-War Rally (2005) and NORML.
