Trip to Nelson is an energetic and innovative contradance band, originating from the Nelson New Hampshire Monday night dance. Our music honors the character of traditional New England contradancing, while adding contemporary elements that provide an invigorating communication to dancers. Our name comes from a lovely jig written by Pete Sutherland after he, Grey Larsen, and Malcolm Dalglish did a concert in the Nelson Town Hall, in March of 1984. Pete has graciously allowed us to use the name for our band. Our new recording, The Winding Road, was named in honor of any road that you might take to get to Nelson. We enjoy playing exciting, interesting music whenever and wherever possible.
